Run for Relief
Dear Families,
Over the next few weeks, I am encouraging your runner to Run for Relief.  As you know, there has been a lot of devastation caused by the recent hurricanes.  Relief efforts are taking place throughout the county, within our towns, and within our school district.  I am encouraging our runners to help in the relief effort with your support.  If you and your runner decide to participate your runner will obtain sponsors who are willing to pay them per  lap run during running club over the next 3 weeks.  Your runner and I will log all laps run and your runner will then provide their sponsor(s) with the total number of laps they ran in hopes of collecting money for each lap run.  Running will begin on October 3rd and commence on October 19th.  Your family will have until October 27th to collect all money earned through sponsorship.  This money will then be donated to the American Red Cross.  At the conclusion of our Run for Relief effort, participants will get together one morning for breakfast.  During our breakfast, we will work on writing Thank You notes to our sponsors.
It is my hope that your child will participate.  They are running anyways so why not Run for Relief?
With a Smile,

Mrs. Conyers

D.P.S Running Club
Fall 2017

Dear Families,
This Fall the D.P.S Running Club will be open to students in grades 3-5.   Running Club will start on Tuesday, September 19th and will be held on Tuesdays & Fridays weather permitting.  Students should arrive for Running Club between 8:00 am and 8:10 am. The bus bay door will close promptly at 8:10 so that we can begin our training.  Do not drop your child off without ensuring the facilitator is present. Please ensure that your student comes prepared with water, a healthy snack and has an extra pair of socks and sneakers to change into following their running especially on wet days.  Please visit this website weekly for additional information, updates and local 5k information.   Additionally, I have set up a text messaging system that I strongly encourage you to use so that I can send reminders, updates and important information if needed.  If you signed up previously there is no need to do it again-you are all set!
If your student plans on participating please fill out the attached permission slip and return it before their first day of Running Club attendance.  I must have a completed permission slip in order for them to participate.
With a Smile,
Mrs. Conyers
